The Perfect Journey

What does it mean to be perfect, really?

The definitions are:
1.  Having all the required or desirable elements, qualities, or characteristics
2.  Free from flaw or defect in condition or quality
3.  Precisely accurate
4.  Exactly right
5.  Absolute; Complete

The scriptures tell us to "Be ye therefore perfect, even as your Father which is in heaven is perfect."  (Matthew 5:48)

The problem is--- What is perfect?

Does it mean having everything go your way?  Having everything go the way you planned it?  Go the way that's best for you?  Go the way that teaches you what you need to know?

Does it mean you do everything right?  Do everything?  Do everything well?  Obey with exactness?

Does it mean you look beautiful?  Have the best figure?  The most beautiful features?  The healthiest weight?

Again, the problem is that what I think is perfect is not necessarily what YOU think is perfect.

The scriptures also tell us: "The soul shall be restored to the body, and the body to the soul; yea, and every limb and joint shall be restored to its body; yea, even a hair of the head shall not be lost; but all things shall be restored to their proper and perfect frame." (Alma 40:23)  But what does that look like?  What does "proper and perfect frame" mean?

The answer would be to find out what GOD thinks is perfect...because I'm supposed to be like Him.

The Bible Dictionary says (when talking about faith):
The Lord has revealed himself and his perfect character, possessing in their fulness all the attributes of love, knowledge, justice, mercy, unchangeableness, power, and every other needful thing, so as to enable the mind of man to place confidence in him without reservation.
So maybe another definition of perfect is: "...possessing in their fulness, all the attributes of love, knowledge, justice, mercy, unchangeableness, power, & every other needful thing..."

Phew!!
That's a lot of stuff to work on....

And it's going to take a long time...

And a lot of mistakes...
